Stavros Evangelakakis

Chairman, Cool Chain Association

Stavros Evangelakakis brings over 35 years of experience in the air cargo industry, having held diverse roles across departments at Cargolux Airlines, including export, reservations, sales, marketing, and cooperative marketing. Prior to his current position as Global Product Manager for Healthcare and Perishables, he served for nine years as Sales Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, and held key roles in Marketing and Reservations.

Over the past two decades, Stavros has developed deep expertise in the transportation of healthcare products, acting as a vital link between commercial and operational teams within Cargolux. His contributions have been instrumental in several strategic initiatives, including:

  • Co-developing the aircraft thermal cover in collaboration with DuPont
  • Leading cross-functional efforts to achieve GDP certification
  • Advancing the Active/Passive container business
  • Providing critical input during the development of the Healthcare Center by Lux Cargo Handling

As Chairman of the Cool Chain Association (CCA), Stavros is a passionate advocate for establishing a standardized approach to the transportation of perishables by air—similar to the standards already in place for pharmaceuticals. He actively promotes awareness around food waste and highlights the role of airfreight in reducing global waste, supported by independent research.

Stavros is deeply fascinated by temperature management across the air cargo supply chain. He views temperature control as an art, emphasizing that collaboration and precision at every stage of the supply chain are key to overcoming challenges.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, he is committed to raising awareness about the importance of last-mile delivery of pharmaceutical products in regions lacking infrastructure.

In his personal life, Stavros is an avid sports enthusiast, actively engaging in running, squash, padel, and interval training with weights.
