What does it take to make a medicine sustainable? It’s a question that touches every part of the journey, from the earliest university research and pharmaceutical production through to supply chains, healthcare systems and, ultimately, the patient. At every stage, there are difficult decisions to make. Reducing environmental impact matters, but so does making sure medicines remain affordable and accessible for the people who need them.
Our speakers bring perspectives from across that journey and each has first-hand experience of trying to balance these priorities in the real world. Rather than talking about sustainability as an ambition for the future, this conversation will look at what it actually takes to put it into practice: what works, where the challenges remain and what we can learn from those already trying to make meaningful change.
