Mario Patyk, Leipzig/Halle Airport

Head of Business Development Cargo/Logistics

Although Mario Patyk was born in Leipzig, it did take him a while to realise that the city actually had a cargo airport. Certainly, at the beginning of his career at Frankfurt Airport many moons ago, no one expected Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) to play any significant role in air freight.

So, one can imagine the surprised look on his face, when the largest cargo carrier in Europe – DHL – announced their move to Leipzig/Halle Airport in 2004, which coincided with his departure from air freight to hold an international commercial role at an information technology company in Ascot, UK.

Until then, Mario had continued to gain invaluable experience by working for forwarders, GHA, GSA and BA World Cargo in Frankfurt (FRA) and London Heathrow.

However, in 2014 Mario finally got the chance to learn what makes Leipzig/Halle Airport a great international cargo hub, when he returned to air freight by joining the fabulous teams at LEJ.

Mario is a father of two cheeky young daughters and he lives with his wife in the city of Leipzig.

Mario Patyk will be presenting on Time- and Temperature-Sensitive Cargo Handling: How To Meet and Exceed CEIV Pharma Handling Requirements at FlyPharma Europe 2022.
